Charcoal

A human done using black chalks, it was a difficult media to use because it didnt smudge, i mistook it for charcoal when starting this piece and that made it even harder to use, it wasnt an overall disaster, the piece still looks good finished it is a media i wouldn't use again however for this kind of drawing.

Experimentation

I experimented quite a lot with this piece, i used charcoal, a media i am not very familar with, and i used my left hand to draw itm, this was quite challenging, and coupled with using a media which i had no prior experience with only made it more so. i am however pleased with the final piece, despite many things that could have gone wrong i think its a very presentable piece.

A third human drawing, this one took only 15 mins and i believe came out quite nicely, the contrast between the thick outl;ines of the woman and the soft sweeping lines of the fabric give an interest effect, it shopws she is planted on the stoll not floating above it, i believe i achieved a realistic posture here.

A quick sketch of a human done during lesson, i used my mechanical pencil for this piece because it proves to very effective, the proportions on the piece are not perfect, i put this down to the limited time frame however, i have practised with drawing quite a few humans now to get proportions right and i belive i have improved significantly since my first life session

This is one of the life drawings done in the observational drawing lessons, i am pleased withn the amount of detail i was able to get into the piece in the time frame we were given, i used fluid but bold lines to give a really strong outline and add some movement and life to the piece, i used my HB mechanical pencil for this piece as it gives nice constant sharp lines with no need to stop and break away from the work at any point to sharpen it.

Rough observational drawings

These are part of a series of 9 rough drawings capturing life quickly and scribbing down as much information as possible within 30 seconds, i tried to capture the bustle and activity of the atruim in my pieces by using fast fluid life to give the drawing more life.

the centre piece is my favourite of the three, i captured the movement of many bystanders in it and this can be seem clearly in the picture by how they interact, i used simple shapes, such as squares and elispe but i captured some emotion in these simple forms.

Flowers

This is an observational drawing of some potted flowers, it was both planned and drawn within 5 mins and i then spent a further 30 mins shading, i gave the fklowers quite a sketchy edge whilst making the pot much bolder, this gives great contrast between the two parts of the picture, i also scanned it taking into account the rule of thirds, which allows the eye to wander over the whole piece and not simple stare at the centre
